Canadian Wings of Rescue is a 100% volunteer run federally registered charity organization dedicated to transporting animals within Canada. Our purpose is to work with Canadian rescue groups, shelters, and/or wildlife rehabilitation centres when they are faced with a transportation need. We arrange free, short domestic flights via our dedicated volunteer pilots wherever possible.
Transports help abused, abandoned and injured animals and help animals get to fosters, adopters, rehabilitation centres or other not-for-profit organizations.
Registered charity #808636088RR0001

We have flown many companion animals from shelters to rescues and forever homes across the country.
Thanks to continued support, injured wildlife benefit from the expertise of far away rehabilitation groups.
Donations can be made to Canadian Wings of Rescue through Canada Helps at www.canadahelps.org
In several provinces, it’s #FamilyDay today. And for so many people, family includes the animals they love, a reminder that family is who you show up for.
This is Sophie the cat’s new mom, right at that “welcome home” moment made possible by @pwnthew0rld and it captures exactly what so much of our work is about.
What donations help cover behind the scenes at Canadian Wings of Rescue:
• Coordination and planning that connects rescues, fosters, and pilots
• Transport logistics and planning tools
• Occasional operational fees
• The unglamorous but essential work that makes the happy ending possible
If you’d like to support that work, we’d be grateful for a donation today.

WHAT’S IN THE CRATE?
Hint: It`s not a puppy or a kitten. Swipe to see the answer....
This reptilian cargo is a turtle taken in by @turtlepondwildlifecentre after we helped transport it to specialized care last year.
A big part of Canadian Wings of Rescue is moving animals safely and calmly, and that starts long before takeoff: secure containment, temperature considerations, minimal handling, and a smooth handoff plan.
Transporting wildlife, in addition to domestic pets, is core to what we do! Please reach out to us if we can help.

What part should we show more of in these Flight Reports: planning, safety checks, or the handoffs?

Last summer, Max and Maple flew with Canadian Wings of Rescue from their foster home, moving one step closer to the forever families waiting for them. Their story is one of many. Canadian Wings of Rescue is 100% volunteer-run, and we rely entirely on community donations to cover any costs incurred during to make a transport happen. Our pilots give their time. You give what makes the rescues possible.
Max and Maple made it because our community showed up. There are more animals waiting for their chance right now. Will you help us get them there? Every dollar funds the journey. Every journey saves a life. Donate today (link in bio).

This week, we`re celebrating an incredible partner who shares our goal of giving animals a second chance. When Northwest Canadian Greyhound League(@ncglcanada) reached out to help transport Prince and Bailey—two beautiful surrender greyhounds—we were honoured to step in.
Thanks to their tireless dedication and the volunteer pilot who donated their time and aircraft, Prince and Bailey soared across the skies to their foster homes in Alberta, where they`re now one step closer to finding their forever families.
To the team at Northwest Canadian Greyhound League: thank you for trusting us to be part of these journeys. Your commitment to rescuing and rehoming greyhounds inspires us every day.

From abandoned to adored.
When Skye was found alone on a rooftop, dehydrated and starving, @WetNosesRescue stepped in, and thanks to the generous donations that support their work, she made a full recovery. Now she’s ready for her next chapter: a final safe, loving home.
Huge thanks to volunteer pilot @BradReid_BTC for donating his time (and a whole lot of care) to bring Skye to safety.
On the first attempt at the transport, weather forced them to turn back, but Brad went above and beyond to keep Skye comfortable and secure overnight. Day two brought clearer skies, and they made the full trip through B.C.’s interior to complete Skye’s journey to her new home.
A true team effort, and a powerful reminder of what happens when people show up for animals who can’t ask for help.
